We are currently housekeeping the new site and adding more products than ever before. There are now three ways you can search for what you need:-

• Use the drop down boxes to the right of the new logo at the top
• Entering into the Search here box
• Or by using our new shop filter, selecting by make-model-type. For example if you need wheels for a Honda C50, Then just select Honda-C90-Wheels

2. We also have a few exciting features such as the Featured Spares section where we will be putting new products, bargains and more. Currently as we have one of the largest range of Velo Solex parts in the Uk we have put a small selection of products on there for you to see the quality of what is available.

3. A bit further down you will see a list of brands. These are just some of the bike makes that we do parts for and the range will be expanding. We stock a large range and the brand names are for guidance only. We have New stock, old new stock, used stock and re-manufactured aftermarket parts. I know it can sometimes get confusing so please check the product descriptions for more information or just ask if you are unsure

4. Now this is where the fun is going to begin!

• We have a new blog section where will be putting in lots of information on what is going on at Classic Moped Spares and perhaps the Moped World in general. Grab a coffee and have a look!
• There is also a link to our manuals site where we will be putting more manuals than ever before. We have a comprehensive library of books and leaflets and information and this is where these products will be able to be found to help you restore or maintain your bike.
• If you like facebook and want to see information on the move then we also do occasionally talk to people in the real world and on here as well!
• Videos, Yes there will be lots of them. We have done a few and I am no Sean Connery, but you will find a few quick tips on parts that we sell and how to fit them.

We specialise in parts for older mopeds mainly, but also can supply performance parts for those interested in seriously modifying their bikes. Whilst we do not want every old moped to look like a hot rod there are some amazing restoration and performance enhancements that have been made to old mopeds.

Moped Rims Now Back in Stock and better than ever!

Classic Moped Spares does wheels!

Moped Rims are now back in stock for the classic Raleigh Mopeds and Mobylette among many others. New rims are now available which have been specially manufactured to High Italian Specifications. After all worth riding on decent wheels!

The new rims come with specially drilled holes which means that you should be able use your original spokes from your Raleigh or Mobylette Moped (provided they are resuable)! There will be more information about spokes and building coming over the next few weeks!

There are as always limited numbers and unfortunately when stocks run out lead times are normally 2-3 months for remanufacture especially as these are not off the shelf products and have been specially made for Classic Moped Spares.

Moped Parts Secret Base in the UK?

One of the best kept secret suppliers of Classic Moped Parts in the UK, is Classic Moped Spares! But then I would say that being a true enthusiast that started off collecting and restoring Raleigh Runabouts as a hobby. Soon local lads used to turn up and say can you fix this mate or help me get this part. Then one day the plunge was taken and Classic Moped Spares was born!

A change of fortune meant the original moped collection including a high standard Raleigh Runabout restoration was sold, one of which went to an American film company. Since we have also helped source/supply bikes that have gone to Bollywood, Film Theatre Stage production, television productions, model photographic shoots to name but a few. We still keep a few mopeds privately.

Being small means sometimes we can get overwhelmed, but take pride in being a genuine small UK business with customer interests at heart. Rare Early Mobylette Stock uncovered at Classic Moped Spares

Early 1950's Mobylette Engine Parts

We have just sorted through some stock and come across these very rare Mobylette piston rings.

They are suitable for the early Mobylette which were produced in the 1950's up to the 1960. The early models that they will fit are (click the model to go to the shop):-

The rings have a scarf cut and are also internally grooved. Stocks are extremely low and we are limiting them to one set per customer so that as many enthusiasts can be helped out as possible.

The rings were originally manufactured in the Uk, by a company claiming (on the packaging) to produce the best quality rings in the world!

Sad Times at Classic Moped Spares - Please be patient

Difficult times at Classic Moped Spares

On the 6th April 2016 my mother sadly passed away after losing her fight with cancer. The past few weeks and months have been extremely hard and I appreciate all the support and help I have had from everyone, including Family, Friends, Customers and Carers, and in particular St Margaret's Hospice, Taunton.  

Classic Moped Spares is a family business and it is difficult to separate business and personal circumstances at this time. Currently there may be a delay of  up to 3-4 working days responding to queries and sometimes despatching goods, however it is also possible that your order may still go out on the same day.

We are not a large business such as Apple, Amazon, or Google, and have never intended to be. We are a small company in a very competitive market trying to offer items to help anyone restore a moped or classic motorcycle. 

We value your custom and do hope that we will not lose you, but understand at this time our high service levels will be hard to maintain. 

Do not be sad there are a lot of things to look forward to:-

• New products and services arriving
• Existing items being continued for sale, or being improved
• Stock being sorted and a new system being put in place to improve our services further

Classic Moped Spares Affordable Restorations

What is the Simplest Moped Restoration?

You have possibly heard the term 'Simplex' used with Velosolex. The Solex was always designed to be simple to work on. It is after all a bicycle with a small front mounted engine with a front mudguard cut out for the drive roller to engage.

Classic Moped Spares is expensive is certainly not something that can be said for the Solex machines, with tyres under £20 each and filters just a few quid, even replacing main parts is well within most budgets. 

With such simplicity the VeloSolex is a great little rewarding project and they also appear to be creeping up in value. They look so much fun I even bought one for myself, I just hope I get time to have a go on it!

The major club website based in the UK for Solex enthusiasts is now back up and running after a short break. The Forum can be found using the link http://www.velosolexclubuk.com/

The forum was down for sometime, but is now back up and running and going strong. There are a lot of members and I have found through my own experience that they are highly knowledgeable and helpful. 

The forum is easy to use after approval has been given. It appears to be run in a professional manner and is a credit to the auto cycle fan base.

Technical Details:-

Size 2.125 x 12 to replace the original 2.00 x 12 Tyres which are no longer available. This is the closest size available and the difference is only 0.125

Good Quality with a beaded edge and tougher construction than standard bicycle tyres

4mm roadster tread pattern.

Maximum Inflation 40psi (2.8bar)

Fit for purpose, road legal for classic mopeds, electric scooters and vintage cycles.

Fitment

As these are slightly wider these are a slightly tighter fit so please use appropriate tyre levers and tyre lubricant so as not to damage the tyre during fitting. Note some washing up liquids can contain salts which can rot your chrome rims. It is recommended that these tyres are fitted by a qualified cycle/garage mechanic and if fitting the whitewalls use gloves!

These tyres are now available after being successfully tested and fitted by Ariel Three Club Members, Raleigh Wisp Owners to name but a few.
